I Know I Should Stop
A Poem Of Confession
I know
I should mow the lawn.
I know
There is work to do.
I know
I am just wasting time.
But
I have a few more words to get out
Before I am done.
I'll just a scribble few more lines.
It will only be a little poem,
Maybe an ode
Five pages at most.
I'll then rewrite it some
And
Edit each line-
About a hundred times,
But I need to
Research another word
From the mighty books-
The dictionary and thesaurus.
I will be done soon,
After all,
It is not yet midnight,
Or dawn
Somewhere.
