THE PERPETUATE MAN, A POEM OF CONQUEST

The Perpetuate Man,
A Poem Of Conquest

A vision unfought for
Becomes darkened
Waters
Rushing down the streets
To plunge
Through the iron grate
And die in the sewers.
The one who surrenders
Becomes like
Pages scattered
Unread,
Whose virtues were
Summarily sentenced
As unworthy.
But the man
Who pumps the bellows
Through the night
And resurrects the flame
Of vision
Is the one that
Spectators call a fool-
Yet he is the man
Who knows
Each failure
Empowers triumph.
