The Old Hat,
Whatever happened
To that hat
So long ago?
It sure looked good
In the mirror.
It gave shade to my eyes,
Though not enough
To be useful.
It went missing years ago
In one of my sojourns;
When I was another me.
If I wore it today
It would be
Old and beaten-
Just like me.
I was so proud of it
Today it might be in some
Second-hand store.
Maybe
The money
Could have been better used.
I wonder what happened
To that old hat
But
What I really I wish
Is to have back
The fifty bucks
That I paid for it.
