Prayer Of A Modern Man

God of Gentle Whispers,
Help me to quiet myself
That I may hear You
In the stillness of dawn.
God who made the ear
Give me an attitude of listening
To hear Your voice
In the quietness of sunset.
God of the still small voice,
Deliver me from distractions
To hear Your words
For the day’s labors.
God of the Good Message.
Let me know You
In the silence of the night
That You may guide my thoughts.
God of Great and Small,
Guide me to the simplicity
Of the child
Like Samuel, who said.
“Speak Lord, for Your servant
Is listening.”*
