Once, A Poem Of The Hope In A New Beginning
Once
You were ice
Blistering in the summer heat-
Spurning the words
Of an ancient-future king.
His whispers of peace
Came from behind
To overtake you-
Until
Your steps were silenced
By turning.
In surrender, you won
The gift of God's grace.
And like a reminder of
Rebellion's price
The scars remain
Like cracks in the pavement
From which flowers may blossom
In the spring
Now.
