KITTENS, A POEM ABOUT THE LACK OF LIONS AMONG MEN

Kittens,
A Poem About The Lack Of Lions Among Men

We are
Like cats sleeping
In warm sunlight
Shaped by the window
Frosted with snow,
Cats who dream like dragons
Of another day-
Where ice castles melt
In the ashes of spring
When evil conquered grace,
And felines become
One with the comfort
Of the hearth in winter.
Our failure to become men
Is not that God made us such
Kittens,
But in our
Devolving into
Balls of fur purring
Next to the warm fire
While others become lions
And roar
Against the cold darkness.
