SEA, A POEM OF THE HUNGRY SOUL
We are like the sea
Living our lives in cycles,
And spending our edges
In slow rhythm
Against the shore
Hearing only our own song
A monosyllable-
Swish,
Swish,
Swish,
While waves darken the sand,
And white salt foam
Pushes the same limit-
As always;
Meeting the boundary where
Broken life,
Driftwood,
And kelp rot,
In the sun.
So we walk our beachfront
And pick through the
Seafoam wreckage
Hoping to find
Little treasures.
