ABOVE THE HURRICANE, A POEM ABOUT ENDURING HOPE

* * * * *

ABOVE THE HURRICANE
A POEM OF HOPE

It did do not launch,
It arose;
It did not take off,
She let go
Of her pink balloon.
It drifted up,
Ascending
The layers of air
Tracked by her brown eyes.
Balloon
A child's symbol of joy,
Happiness,
And hope,
Sent to the stratosphere;
And bounced
Between
Hurricane winds
And gale force jet streams,
Where pilots are restricted
And jumbo jets fear.
The pink balloon
Like hope
And dreams
Survives
By it's
Insubstantial
Being.
