THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT, A POEM ABOUT CHOOSING

The Long And Short Of It
A Poem About Choosing.

We are born and become
Unwitting travelers.
We pack gear for the road
But bring a bag full
Of dead weight.
We linger at crossroads
Trying to read the
Shadows
That lay across our palm.
Words in the hourglass
Fall
As we blindly look for
The narrow way
Of St Matthew's gospel.
We squint our eyes against
His bright light
But
In love with darkness we
Turn to the familiar
Of the night
While wishing for the day
Rather than walking
With him
On the narrow road.

Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. John 3:19.

"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it." Matthew 7:13.
