LONGING FOR THAT PLACE, A POEM ABOUT OUR SOUL'S DESIRE

Longing For That Place,
A Poem About Our Soul's Desire

We hear the voices
In shadowy halls.
We do not see them
Softly singing
An ancient hymn
Of another belonging.
Telling us
We were made
For another place.
We see it far off across
Maleficent seas,
Where baleful clouds
Threaten judgment.
Our hearts long to go there
But our transport
Was sabotaged
By Eve's hand
And Adam's duplicity.
We try to build that land
But mists pass through
The hourglass
And
Night is falling.
We are deafened
By our hammering
Or we would hear His words
Who said, "I go
To prepare a place for You"

John 14:1-5
