The Flawless Love
A Poem of Motivation
The love I've known
Has been flawed
Because
It came wrapped
In a human heart,
And
The love I've given
Moldered like black leaves
In some putrid soil.
I am unfit to give love-
For I too,
Am flawed.
We are all desperate
For it,
Starving for it,
And slowly die for want of it;
Not knowing marred love
Is our teacher,
For that need suggest
The greater love exists.
We search and fail
Over and over
Until we come
To the one God sent
To show us
Love;
And learn that,
"We love because
He first loved us."
In the light of His love
We start to heal
The flaws.
